This policy applies to all purchases made on pahadiroots.com, operated by 5 Pahadi Roots (founded by Sudhir Chambail, New Delhi). Framed in compliance with the Consumer Protection Act, 2019 and Consumer Protection (E-Commerce) Rules, 2020.

⏰ Report damaged, defective or wrong items within 48 hours of delivery with photo/video proof. We always make it right.

1. Returns for Food / Edible Products

In accordance with hygiene, safety, and perishable goods exemptions under consumer protection laws, returns and exchanges are generally not permitted for edible items including honey, ghee, saffron, shilajit, teas, spices, and all other food products.

However, as a goodwill measure, we may consider return/refund requests for edible items on a case-to-case basis, subject to:

  • Request raised within 48 hours of delivery
  • Clear photographic or video evidence provided
  • Issue pertains to damage, spoilage, or quality concern attributable to transit or manufacturing defect

Our decision in these matters is taken in good faith and communicated transparently, without prejudice to your statutory rights under the Consumer Protection Act, 2019 or any other applicable law.

2. Returns for Non-Edible Products

Returns are accepted for non-edible items (packaging, accessories, gift sets) where:

  • Product is defective, damaged, or not as described
  • Return request raised within 48 hours of delivery
  • Product is unused, unopened, in original condition with all packaging, labels, and accessories intact

3. Products NOT Eligible for Return

❌ The following will generally not be accepted for return or refund, except as required by applicable law:

  • Products that have been opened, used, altered, or tampered with
  • Items reported after 48 hours of delivery
  • Products without original packaging or labels
  • Items damaged due to consumer misuse or negligence
  • Products rendered unfit for inspection
  • Edible items once opened β€” unless a quality defect is raised within 48 hours
  • Change of mind after the order has been shipped

6. Order Cancellation

  • Orders may be cancelled before dispatch only β€” contact us immediately on WhatsApp. Between order confirmation and dispatch, cancellation requests are accepted at our discretion
  • Once dispatched, cancellation requests cannot be accepted
  • Food/edible orders cannot be cancelled once dispatched
  • If we cancel your order (stock issue / pricing error), a full refund is issued within 3–5 business days

⚠️ If packaging appears tampered or damaged at delivery, refuse to accept it and contact us immediately on WhatsApp with your order number. We will arrange a replacement or refund at no extra cost.

7. Consumer Grievance Redressal

Delayed or Lost Shipments

If delayed beyond the expected window, contact us with your order number. If a shipment is confirmed lost in transit, we will either resend the order (if in stock) or issue a full refund.

Failed / Undelivered Orders

  • Courier attempts delivery up to 3 times if you are unavailable
  • After failed attempts, package is returned to us β€” return shipping cost is borne by you
  • Contact us to reship β€” additional shipping charges apply
  • If the customer is unreachable across all contact details after 3 courier attempts, we will make best efforts to contact via alternate means; however successful delivery cannot be guaranteed in such circumstances

Refused Delivery (Prepaid Orders)

If you refuse a prepaid order, we arrange one re-attempt. If not possible, the order is cancelled and refunded after deducting RTO (return to origin) charges within 24–48 hours of the package reaching our facility.

Damaged Packaging at Delivery

⚠️ If packaging appears tampered or damaged, refuse the delivery and WhatsApp us immediately at +91 98999 84895 with your order number. We will arrange a replacement or refund.

Delivery Marked but Not Received

Raise the complaint within 48 hours of the status update. Complaints raised after 48 hours may be difficult to resolve due to courier partner limitations.

  • We accept UPI, credit/debit cards, net banking (via Razorpay) and Cash on Delivery

Physical Products β€” Limited Quality Warranty: We warrant that all products dispatched from our facility are:

  • Genuine, unadulterated, and fit for consumption as described
  • Within their printed expiry/best-before date at time of dispatch, with at least 30% of shelf life remaining (consistent with industry standard β€” see Organic India, Tata Consumer)
  • Free from manufacturing defects visible at the time of packaging
  • Stored under appropriate conditions prior to dispatch

This warranty does NOT cover:

  • Natural variation in colour, texture, aroma, or taste β€” inherent to raw, unprocessed, single-origin Himalayan products (honey crystallisation, ghee graininess, saffron colour variation are normal and not defects)
  • Changes in flavour or appearance after the printed best-before date
  • Products damaged, mishandled, or improperly stored after delivery
  • Subjective dissatisfaction with taste, potency, or intensity β€” natural products vary by harvest season and origin
  • Products where tampering, opening, or alteration is evident

⚠️ Natural products may exhibit batch-to-batch variation in colour, viscosity, crystallisation, and aroma. This is a sign of authenticity β€” not a defect. Raw honey crystallises naturally. A2 ghee may be grainy in winter. Saffron shade varies by harvest. These characteristics do not constitute grounds for return.

To the maximum extent permitted by Indian law including the Consumer Protection Act 2019, 5 Pahadi Roots shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from use of our website or digital services. Liability for physical products is governed by applicable consumer law.

9. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless 5 Pahadi Roots and its founder, employees, and agents from any claims, damages, or expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your breach of these Terms, violation of any law, or infringement of any third-party rights.

10. Accuracy of Information & Errors
